The ethnographic collection of the Dornyay Béla Museum has been in existence since 2013. As a fresh collection, the most important task is to expand the collection by buying, mostly gifts, and collecting. The collection area of the museum is the historical Nógrád county.
The collection basically covers ethnographic monuments used in the semi-urbanized environment of the Nógrád industrial area in the 19-20th century. The collection includes folk costumes, spinning weaving tools, women's handicrafts, folk furniture and household items. Our main goal is to continue researching and presenting the lifestyle of the mining areas of Nógrád and the changes in the material world. It is important that the collection and the discipline are properly represented in the work of the museum and that they are brought closer to the visitors through events, exhibitions, lectures and related museum education activities.
