Fine Art Collection

The Fine Art Collection of the museum consists of 5 000 pieces. We collect primarily domestic contemporary artworks at both national and county level.

The Fine Art Collection can be divided into many units. Our largest and most unique collection unit is the Mihályfi collection, which counts nearly 800 pieces. It arrived in Nógrád county at the end of the 1970s.

Another important collection profile is the collection of paintings, graphic works of art and plastic works of contemporary county and county related artists. This multicolored, manifold collection draws a comprehensive picture of the 20th and 21st century national fine art world, aligning the great classics of the beginning of the century and the representatives of contemporary avant-garde, as well as accurately illustrating the art world of our county and town, and representing the main stages of local artists’ oeuvres
